Gas Turbine Exhaust

Jeff Cozbey

Some OEM's and Plant Designers think of the Gas Turbine Exhaust System as an afterthought. So much time, money & effort goes into the GT and Intake Systems to condition the inlet air. At Schock we know that if the  Exhaust System is carefully designed, then it will operate maintenance free for decades. However, if shortcuts are taken, we have seen Exhaust System begin failure immediately. Even though your system may be under warranty, do you really want a company trying to fix it (trial and error) that could not design it properly to begin with?

The Gas Turbine Exhaust System design starts with the desired overall system pressure drop and acoustic attenuation. Once the system is geometrically designed, we incorporate access areas for inspection, testing ports, expansion joints for overall thermal expansion. We then design our thermal insulation systems which are protected by our class leading liners systems. While Schock has liner system standards, we look to each area of the system to determine which liner system we will apply. All of which are designed to properly protect the insulation for decades encountering thermal movement, turbulent flow, weather, vibration, and others.

We fabricate our products in our wholly owned US shop or sub-contract partner. In either case we have a hands on approach to control the quality of the design and product shipped to site. Schock also assists the site installation with a expert technical advisor, or will handle completely turnkey. Our in process project reporting is second to none, with fabrication updates, and daily site reports during installation. Our customers are truly our partners, and we share project execution matters openly.
