Exhaust Stack Upgrade

Jeff Cozbey

Schock completed liner and exhaust silencer upgrades on (3) FS7F Units recently. We will evaluate your existing system and determine the best way to safely upgrade considering outage time, overall cost, and many other considerations.

The gas turbine exhaust system should be designed to be a safe maintenance free piece of the overall power plant. Schock has obvious design inputs such as GT run conditions, pressure drop and site sound criteria. We also consider the overall installation cost, and total expected life. Once the geometry of the Exhaust system is determined, we determine shipping splits while considering the installation time, etc. We then apply our thermal insulation and market leading liner system to each piece of ductwork. We try to minimize the field labor and control the critical aspects of our designs in our own workshop. We primarily use 11 gage 409SS liner with various pin spacing, sub-liner and over-liner methods for supporting/clamping. The idea is to allow each liner sheet free thermal movement during startup and shutdowns, while eliminating all flow ingestion into the insulation cavities.
